Vitas Match wins ETHBOSTON using 1upHealth

ETH Global

On September 8, 2019, Robert Miller fron ConsenSys Health and Ishan Verma from 1upHealth won @ETHBoston using 1upHealth’s API with their project Vitas Match. ETHGlobal held their first Boston hackathon, attracting over 400 top minds and industry experts in the Ethereum, where applicants had 36 hours to generate and execute their ideas.

The Problem

  • 5% of cancer patients are enrolled in clinical trials.
  • 80% of trials do not meet their enrollment timelines and are delayed.
  • It costs companies millions per day in lost revenue for every day of delays.
  • It’s really hard to tell if you qualify for a clinical trial, but this can be made much easier with the right data.

Solution – Vitas Match

Vitas Match is an DAPP that enables people to share their health care data with researchers in a more secure way so that more people could get matched to the right trials and researchers could focus on creating new cures and treatments. They integrated with 1UpHealth’s API to get access to real health data and NuCypher’s proxy re-encryption scheme to give patients the ability to share their data with multiple researchers with granular, time limited access. Further, this works even if the person sharing data leaves and is no longer attending to their data. A way for patients to monetize their data and be paid in ETH.
