Last Week in Tucson: Rally Around Digital Transformation, Interoperability and FHIR in the Desert

Spring Smash

At 1upHealth, we are passionate about our purpose of “better healthcare for all” and accelerating digital transformation of the industry with our health data cloud.

And what better way to ignite that passion than an all-hands offsite.

Last week, the 1up team gathered together in Tucson’s stunning Sonoran Desert for our annual Spring Smash company offsite. Proud to be a distributed company, the opportunity to be together in person as a team was even more significant and impactful for us.

During our time together:

  • We were energized by our company’s purpose, vision and mission while reflecting on where we’ve been, what we’ve accomplished, where we are headed and what we WILL accomplish as a team in 2023 and beyond.
  • We were thrilled to be joined by Ron Wampler, Executive Director of Interoperability at Aetna CVS Health, who spoke about their “member first”  FHIR data and interoperability strategy, their partnership with 1upHealth, and how they are preparing for the upcoming CMS rule.
  • We were reminded how incredibly important the work we do is as we dove deep into industry challenges and sobering US health outcomes that could be improved through better access, sharing and computability of data.
  • We were inspired by incredibly talented team members with deep expertise and command of the areas they lead, from product design to network strategy to cloud architecture and more.
  • We were driven by good old fashioned team comradery mixed with some fierce competition (think human hungry hungry hippos). We bonded on the dance floor at our disco in the desert and indulged in local cuisine (Sonoran hot dogs are a must try!).

We are feeling more energized than ever to help lead the healthcare industry into a modern, interoperable future, and we can’t wait to share with you all the things we’re planning as we continue through 2023.
